One year in Operational Excellence Consultancy

As we exit the month of January, when I celebrated the one year birthday of The Clarity Framework, I’ve taken the opportunity to look back and reflect on the last 12 months.

It has been a steep learning curve. Huge. Massive. But I do believe that if I could send myself a list of all the things I have learnt over the past year, it probably wouldn’t have made much of a difference to that, things need to happen in their own time. I think that change and development, progress and opportunities all come along at the point that you are ready for them, not before. Having said that, a brilliant network of people nudging me in the right direction, telling me when I have got it right (and wrong) and sharing ideas has been invaluable.

So what have I learnt that I didn’t know a year ago? SO much. But here are a few of the biggies:

  • You’ve got to master marketing and the dreaded sales before you actually get to do the stuff you are good at.

  • Consistency and persistency are vital. Just keep showing up.

  • Have a brilliant accountant and on hand IT support. And amazing friends.

  • Networking is about building relationships, don’t try to make a sale. Plus it gets easier the more you do it.

  • Learn from your mistakes. Pick yourself up and try another way.

  • Take the opportunity to fully embrace being yourself.

  • Just doing it beats perfection.

I’m guessing that in another years time, I will have learnt a load more. Although I’m sort of feeling now it would be quite nice to have a sneak preview of what those lessons might be!

See you next month,

Kristen
